In recent years, with the rapid increasing of the private cars, the undergroundgarage are more and more used in the urban high rise housing construction, meanwhile, the design theory of the underground garage has got more and moreattention. However, the actual size and distribution of earth pressure and the equivalentuniform live load for fire engines have been rarely concerned in the practical design.FEA is adopted to establish the finite element model of soil-underground garagestructure.Meanwhile, FEA is also adopted to analyze the size and distribution of earthpressure on underground garage. It is shown that the earth pressure on the top of thegarage has a non-uniform distribution, which are influenced by the height of the fill, structural stiffness, soil properties and friction coefficien of contact surface. With theincrease of soil cohesive force and Angle of internal friction, soil pressure graduallydecrease and become stabilized. Soil pressure increases linearly with the increase ofthe thickness of the slab.Additionally, the friction coefficient of Soil-structure surfacehave not an obvious impact on the size and distribution of the earth pressure. This paper consider the relevant provisions on the fire engine load of theLoading Code for Building Structure of china and other facters such as Loadequivalent principles, the adverse arrangement of fire engines, and finally achieved therelationship between equivalent uniform load and span of the slabs and the height ofthe fill.ANSYS is adopted to research the reasonable value of the equivalent uniformlive load in different span of the slabs and the height of the fill of one way and twoway slab.It is shown that Loading Code for Building Structure of china didn’t clearlydefined the equivalent uniform live load for fire engines. Equivalent uniform live loadvalue is too small when the height of the hill is low. When the hight of the soil is highenough, the equivalent uniform live load value is13kN/m2.
