During the operation of the power system, to economize the wasting energy like the coal, and to develop the renewable energy like water are the main way of current optimal scheduling, this paper analyzes the difference of characters between hydraulic power system and thermal power system,establishes a multi-objective optimization scheduling model of the hydrothermal power system. During the establishing of the modle, in consideration of the advantages of hydraulic power system such as convenient to start&stop and environment friendly, this paper uses the hydraulic power system more after ensuring the other use of the water power resources. When it comes to the thermal power system, this paper not only considers the common economy target of consumption cost minimum, but also pays great attention to environmental protection goals with minimum pollution emissions. In all of the conditions,this paper makes the modle to be a multi-objective optimization scheduling model.When solving the modle, this paper deals with the multi-objective decision making problem by creating satisfaction function,transforms the single target properly, coordinates each target by using the linear weighted method.At the same time,this paper uses a new algorithm-the Electromagnetism Algorithm, to solve the modle.To avoide the disadvantage of this algorithm,this paper improves the algorithm by changing the formula and introducing the optimal value of the individual from particle swarm optimization algorithm, this enhances the robustness and the global convergence ability of the algorithm. Then applies the improved algorithm and the original algorithm into the thermal power system and the hydrothermal power system,to prove the feasibility and validity of the algorithm.In addition, this paper analyses the auxiliary service in our country, including the research persent situation,the main characteristics and the types, and tries to consider the cost of auxiliary service in the optimization scheduling of power system.That is to get the cost of auxiliary service by analyzing some specific types of the services such as the peak shaving, the reactive power compensation and the spinning reserve, and then puts the cost into the optimal operation modle and regards it as an important factor to influence economic cost.
