Two-stage matrix converter(TSMC),as a new and efficient power converter withexcellent input and output performance, adjustable input power factor, and high powerdensity, etc., has great application value in the field of electrical drives, powersystems, new energy power generation. While predictive control, which has advancedpredictive, strong real-time performance, good control effect and simple algorithm, etc., has been widely used in the field of power electronics conversion. In this paper, a dual space vector control strategy of TSMC is proposed based onthe research of space vector modulation, predictive control and the characteristics ofTSMC topology structure. Firstly, a summary of the existing TSMC improvedmodulation strategy is given by the analysis of the topology of switch18and thespace vector modulation strategy, and the principle of the predictive control isanalyzed. Then, having a theoretical research on TSMC based on conventional switchtable of predictive control strategy, building its mathematical model, describing thepredictive control processes of the overall system, and using MATLAB to verify thecontrol strategy. Finally, a TSMC dual space vector control strategy is proposed.Based on the instantaneous power theory, the control principle of the rectifier levelinput active power and reacti ve power is analyzed based on the instantaneous powertheory and the predictive model of the rectifive circuit and the inverter circuit areestablished, respectively, and the two-stage of TSMC are coordinated control inaccordance with the principle of power balance. In addition, compared to thepredictive control strategy based on switching table, the proposed algorithm obtainsthe advantages of reduce amount of calculation of the system, and reduce theharmonic content, fixed switching frequency, and easy digital realization, etc.Simulation results show that the system can effectively restrain the impact of the inputvoltage unbalanced distortion of rectifier stage to the output performance of theinverter stage by using the proposed control strategy, and it can ensure the high-levelinput power factor and input current quality of rectifier stage when the inverter stagehas load disturbance at the meantime. The control system obtains a good dynamic andstatic performance.
