Bearingless Switched Reluctance Motor (BSRM) sets of magnetic bearing fuction and motorfuction in a body, it has the important applicaton characteristics in the aerospace, military, civil andother fields. The traditional BSRM adopts double winding structure. However, double windingstructure has some inherent shortcomings such as the complicated winding distribution. Singlewinding bearingless switched reluctance motor has the same structure with the ordinary switchedreluctance motor and it can realize suspension and rotation without addtional stator winding. Therefore, the single winding technology of BSRM is paid more and more attention. In order to simplify the mathematical model of the single winding bearingless switchedreluctance motor, this paper briefly introduces the principle of bearingless switched reluctance motor, and puts forward a method which uses the theoretical results of double winding bearingless switchedreluctance motor and equivalent principle, and deduces the calculation formula of single windingbearingless switched reluctance motor. It also researches the controlling instantaneous radial force ofsingle winding BSRM under no load condition, and realizes stable suspension by experiment.Aimed at the problem of controlling instantaneous radial force difficulty after the motor speedincreases, the control strategy of controlling average radial force is designed, and realizes stablesuspension by experiment. At last, this paper also contrasts the working area between single windingBSRM and double winding BSRM, and points out that the working area of single winding BSRM isobviously higer than that of double winding BSRM.
