Ultrasonic shot peening (USP) is a high-effiency green and energy-saving sheet straighteningtechnology. Compared with conventional sheet straightening process, it has the advantage of Low cost,large range of sheet straightening, good controllability and repeatability. So it is conducive to formingcomplex shape parts and has the broad application prospects in the field of aerospac. The main worksare as follows:The physical process and basic mechanism of USP sheet straightening were analyzed. With Hertzcollision theory as the foundation, the straightening process was analyzed with mechanics. The paperalso established the relational model of sheet metal bending and the residual stress distribution andobtained the estimation formula of the sheet metal deformation of straightening.Researched the morphology of indentations made by USP in sheet surface, analyzed therelationship among diameter of the indentations,depth of the indentations and ultrasonic shotpeeening parameters, established the Empirical Formula of diameter of the indentations,depth of theindentations and ultrasonic shot peeening parameters. The morphology of indentations was producedby USP impacting on sheet surface which are closely related with surface integrity that includingsurface roughness and other surfaces performance.Researched the influence of change USP process parameters to aluminum alloy sheetstraightening.Firstly, the impact of shot peening path to USP sheet straightening wasexplored.Secondly, the relationship between electricity, the pin diameter, USP time and the characterof sheet straightening was investigated.At last, established proper USP sheet straightening on lateralbending deformation and longitudinal bending deformation of sheet metal,and made straighteningexperiments according to the custom path and reached desired results.On the basis of USP process parameters obtained from experiments above, the process of USPsheet straightening were simulated by using ABAQUS software. Determined the appropriate model,constitutive model and mesh for USP. Simulation of effect of process parameters on the deformationof straightening. Made the simulation of straightening complex deformation of sheet surface,Simulation results show that complex deformation of sheet surface can be straightened. The abovestudy suggested that finite element simulation of USP process is feasible.
