The polymer solar cells have attracted considerable attention due to their uniquefeatures such as wide material sources, low cost,simple fabrication,good flexibility andthrough design of the polymer solar cell materials can regulate the performance ofphotovoltaic devices. In this paper, brief introduction of ploymery solar cell’s theory,structure, status and development trend were outlined. We have designed andsynthesized eighteen new D-A copolymers. The structure、molecular weigh, thermalstability, photophysical properties and electrochemical performance of polymers weretested and studied.BODIPY derivatives were synthesized. Subsequently, six new copolymers basedon BODIPY derivatives and thiophene, benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b’]-dithiophene(BDT)derivatives with alkoxy and thiophene as side chains were synthesized via the Stillecoupling reaction. Thermogravimetric analysis of them foud that they have goodthermal stability. The maximum absorption peaks of PBPT1、PBPBT1、PBPBTT1、PBPT2、PBPBT2and PBPBTT2films are located at580nm、589nm、587nm、600nm、604nm and603nm, respectively. They have show broad absorption bands, and theabsorption spectra have covered with visible spectra. From the results ofelectrochemical cyclic voltammetry, these six polymers bandgaps are almost agreedwith optical bandgaps.Benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b’]dithiophene derivatives with terthiophene as side chains weresynthesized, which were introduced into polymer main chains. Subsequently, nine novelD-A copolymers were synthesized via the Stille coupling reaction. Thermogravimetricanalysis of them foud that they have good thermal stability. The maximum absorptionpeaks of PBDBT1、PBDBT2、PBDBT3、PBDBT4、PBDBT5、PBDBT6、PBDBT7、PBDBT8and PBDBT9solid films are located at590nm、605nm、625nm、591nm、536nm、694nm、600nm、771nm and588nm, respectively. They have show broadabsorption bands, and the absorption spectra have covered with visible spectra. Fromthe results of electrochemical cyclic voltammetry, these six polymers bandgaps arealmost agreed with optical bandgaps.A series of the copolymers PBOBT, PBOBO and PBODP coploymer based onbenzothiadiazole derivatives, benzooxadiazole derivatives and diketopyrrolopyrrolederivatives as electron acceptors and benzotrithiophene derivatives as electron donorswere synthesized via the Stille coupling reaction. Thermogravimetric analysis of them foud that they have good thermal stability. The maximum absorption peak of PBODPsolid film is located at773nm. PBODP has show broad absorption bands, and theabsorption spectra has covered with visible spectra. From the results of electrochemicalcyclic voltammetry, PBODP bandgap is almost agreed with optical bandgaps.
