As one of the spectrum methods commonly used, mass spectrometry andinstrument technology shows great importance in chemical research and chemicalproduction process. Studying on the nationalization of mass spectrometer and itsrelated technology has the extremely far-reaching significance in developing thedomestic mass spectrometry technology and its industry, as well as the scientificinstruments of China. This paper is mainly devoted to developing a ElectronIonization(EI) Source module of Mass Spectrometry and on the basic of theexisted two dimensional linear ion trap(LIT) module and time-of-flight(TOF)module, building a novel EI LIT-TOF hybrid tandem mass spectrometer. Thenthis work has been discovered methods on noise reduction and optimization ofthe electrotron ionization source power supply. The instrument coupled with EIsource features the MSnanalysis of LIT and the high resolution of TOF massanalyzer. Meanwhile, it also has high sensitivity, high qualitative ability, and hasa good application prospect in studying the structure and chemical properties oforganic compounds.Based on a brief overview on the structure of mass spectrometer and themain working principle of ion trap and time-of-flight mass analyzer, the maincontent of this article are as follows:1. Designation and optimization of electron ionization source module. Thispaper developed a electron ionization(EI) source module, and complete thedesignation and debugging of the mechanical part and the power supply part.In addition, this study also examines the noise level of EI source powersupply and how it happens in the power supply. This work also optimize thedesignation of EI source power supply in order to reduce noises on the powersupply board and avoid the interference on the mass spectral when the systemworks. 2. Construction and debugging of electron ionization source linear iontrap/time-of-flight hybrid tandem mass spectrometer(EI LIT-TOF). Onthe basic of successfully finishing the designation and noise reduction of EIsource power supply, this work utilize the LIT module, the TOF module andthe EI module to assemble a EI LIT-TOF. Standard sample of PFTBA, carbontetrachloride and acetone has been used to test the performance of theinstrument. The basic function including ion trapping, isolation, collisioninduced dissociation (CID) and MSnanalysis has been proved to be successfulin the experimental tests. More important is that it has good selectivityperformance of parent ions. The EI LIT-TOF developed in our laboratory willhave a good application prospect in studying the structure and chemicalcharacters of volatile organic compounds(VOCs).
