In this paper, the local stability of web plates in I-girders with full-cross stiffenersor split-cross stiffeners under the pure bearing loads was analyzed and studied by usingthe finite element software ANSYS.Firstly, the local buckling of web plates which were strengthened with the abovetwo kinds of torsional stiffeners and simply supported on four sides under pure bendingloads was compared and analyzed. By considering the influence of angle, width,thickness and spacing-to-height ratio of these two kinds of torsional stiffeners, thebuckling stress of web plates with torsional stiffeners or without stiffeners wascompared and analyzed, and the effect of buckling stress of the web plates with twokinds of torsional stiffeners under the same conditions were compared too. The bucklingmodes of web plates with torsional stiffeners and the influence of the two kinds oftorsional stiffeners on buckling modes was analyzed and compared. By consideringdouble nonlinear effect, the influence of bearing capacity of web plates with torsionalstiffeners under different design parameters was explored, and the efffect of bearingcapacity for the two kinds rsional stiffeners under same design parameter wasstudied,too.Finally, by considering the restriction from the flange to the web, the bucklingmodes of I-girders with two forms of torsional stiffeners were researched and theinfluence of the two kinds of torsional stiffeners on buckling modes was compared. Byintroducing the parameter β correlating the torsional stiffness of the flange and theflexural stiffness of the web, the regulations to quantify the restriction from the flangeto the web plate along with β was anslyzed.
