Composite column with embedded steel tube core column filled ultra high strengthconcrete is to configure one or more prefabricated circular, square steel ultra highstrength concrete core columns in reinforced concrete columns centre. Due to theconfiguration of the steel pipe core column filled with ultra high strength concrete, thevertical bearing capacity and the seismic performance of the composite column areimproved effectively.In this paper,low cyclic horizontal loading tests of three composite columns withembedded precast steel tube core column filled ultra high strength concrete, threecomposite columns with embedded precast steel tube core column filled ultra highstrength concrete constrained transversely by prestressed steel belt and three Reinforcedconcrete columns were studied. The test focuses on researching influence ofconfiguration steel tube core column filled ultra high strength concrete, the stirrupspacing and lateral restraint prestressed steel belt on the seismic performance ofconcrete columns.Hysteretic curve of each specimen is obtained by experiment. The seismicbehavior including the ductility, energy dissipation capacity, bearing capacity andstiffness of each specimen is analyzed. The result show that the seismic performance ofcomposite column with embedded steel tube core column filled ultra high strengthconcrete is superior to the seismic behavior of ordinary concrete column, and that theseismic performance of composite column with embedded steel tube core column filledultra high strength concrete constrained transversely by prestressed steel belt issignificantly better than the seismic behavior of the composite column with embedded steel tube core column filled ultra high strength concrete without constraint when thespecimen have a reasonable stirrup ratio. The bearing capacity of column is notincreased significantly with configuration steel tube core column filled high strengthconcrete.Based on experiment, the restoring force model of composite column withembedded steel tube core column filled ultra high strength concrete is established and isgood agreement with skeleton curve of test by comparison.In summary, the seismic performance of composite column with embedded steeltube core column filled ultra high strength concrete is significantly better than theseismic behavior of ordinary Reinforced concrete column.
