Lane departure warning system reminds drivers that the vehicle has deviated from thelane by sending a particular form of warning signal, thus the dangerous situation caused bylack of concentration or dozing off can be avoided, and ultimately achieves the purpose ofreducing lane-departure accident rate. At present, Lane departure warning technology hasbeen applied to the vehicle active safety products in European and American countries,China is also actively exploring Lane departure warning technology in this field and tryingto apply it to the real products. The dissertation carried on the analysis and comparison of a variety of imageprocessing algorithms based on Visual C++6.0platform, According to the specificcharacteristics of lane images in straight lane model, the image was divided into manyregions of interest, from which the lane lines were recognized and extracted, and the slopedifference’s threshold of lane line on the both sides and distance’s threshold between twolane line’s intersection point and the center line of the image were achieved. Finally, thevisual programming method, which is based on the MFC class library and open imageprocessing library OpenCV, is applied to process the image. After constructing a C++class,a video processing system is built, which regards the functions of OpenCV as the technicalinterface. By this method, not only the information from video files can be read, but theinformation connecting from CCD camera can be read as well. Then the system will doreal-time processing on the traffic lane information, so that the real-time warning of lanedeparture will be also realized.
