Electromagnetic transient process exists widely in power system, electrical equipmentand electronic components. Electromagnetic transient calculation is an important part ofover-voltage calculation and elcetromagnetic compatibility analysis. Electromagnetic fieldnumerical calculation method which Derived by Max integral or differential calculusequation, can be used for calculating and analyzing electromagnetic transient process ofmulti-conductors system directly. This paper analyzes the characteristic of various kinds ofelectromagnetic field numerical calculation methods and introduces the advantages ofpartial element equivalent circuit(PEEC) over other electromagnetic field numericalcalculation methods. It also introduces the development process of PEEC and currentresearch status of PEEC used in electromagnetic transient analysis of conductor system. The definition of partial inductance is provided and derivation process from electricfield integral equation to PEEC model is introduced briefly. This paper establishes PEECmodel of single conductor cell and medium cell, then explains physical significance ofevery component in the model and provides theory calculation formulas of every parameterin the model. This paper gives the way to divide mesh, calculate partial parameters and solve systemequations in establishing PEEC model for space system of multi-conductors. Based onMATLAB and COMSOL, automatic calculation program of partial parameters ofmulti-conductors system is compiled and the solving method of PEEC model’s systemequations in consideration of time delay is analyzed. The validity of compiled program inthis paper is verified by comparing its calculation results with EMTP’s simulation resultsand test results.PEEC method is used in researching response characteristics of a kind of sensor fordischarge current of high voltage electrod. The PEEC model of the current sensor isestablished. Voltage response of the current sensor is calculated when an excitation currentsource is exerted on the sensor. Square-wave response and amplitude-frequencycharacteristic of the current sensor is obtained and the influencing factor of responsecharacteristics of the current sensor is analyzed.
