Precast concrete box girder bridge has a large cross-section torsional rigidityand flexural rigidity. It can meet the requirements of highway driving well. The costof precast concrete beam bridges is low.So they are widely used in our country. In order to improve lateral connections of precast concrete girder bridges, weusually set the diaphragms in the beam bridge to make it tolerance as whole. But dueto the overweight vehicles, precast concrete girder bridges may be destructive easily.Too many cracks are the most common diseases. If the diaphragms are made up ofordinary reinforced concrete, they will bear the load with cracks. It will reduce thetransverse stiffness of bridges and also cause the steel corrosion. What is worse, themain girder may be destroyed. In recent years, we always set prestressedreinforcement in the diaphragms. It can improve the usability of diaphragms. Thearticle has made a study of prestressed diaphragms and done the following work:A finite element model of the whole bridge has been set up to analysis themechanical properties of diaphragms. We also design an experiment to prove thecorrectness of the theory. The principle of this experiment is to ensure that theconcerte model is similar to the bridge. The size of the model is determined by t hefield size, research purposes and the experiment cost. The article makes a study ofprestressed diaphragms carefully.
