In most feed system, rotating motor is chosen to be the drive mechanism. Throughmotion conversion mechanism, the rotary motion is converted into linear motion. Thosemotion conversion mechanism brought the problem of longer response time and loweraccuracy. If linear motor is chosen to be the drive mechanism, that problem will nolonger exist. Thus, linear motor has good prospects in feed system. Hybrid excitationlinear electromagnetic damper could provides electromagnetic loads for linear motors. Ithas the advantage of adjustable braking force, high power density and low power loss.This article handles a hybrid excitation linear electromagnetic damper, researches itsstructure and working principles. A control strategy and a control system are researchedand designed according to the damper’s feature. The electric circuit board is made andthe experimental platform is built to carry the loading experiment.First, the model of the damper is built, including electrical model and mechanicalmodel. According to the electrical model, it comes to the conclusion that there is noEMF in the damper. There are two aspects of mechanical model analysis, includingeddy current brake force and friction. The friction part includes research of normal forceof the damper. Finally, the loading force characteristic of the damper is concluded andits relationship between velocity and exciting current is analyzed respectively.Then, combining the control target of the damper loading system, the controlstrategy of two loops, current loop and force loop, is put forward. In the research ofcurrent loop, the controller is designed, the ripple of current is analyzed and the methodof improving it is proposed. In the research of force loop, the controller is also designedand the non-linear relationship between loading force and exciting current is handledand corrected to be a linear one. Based on the control strategy and the research ofcurrent loop and force loop, the simulation model is built and the feasibility is verified.Finally, based on the control strategy and simulation model, the control systemhardware circuit is designed and made, the software program is also compiled.Combining the control system and the damper, the loading experiment is carried, andthe control performance of the designed hybrid excitation linear electromagneticdamper control system is proved.
