The vector detection system of weak magnetic object attempts to measure the magnetic vector fielddistribution pattern within a region, so could calculate the location and magnetic parameters of theferromagnetic object within geomagnetic field. Although the magnetic vector detection can obtainmore magnetic information, but the difficulty of detection will also increase greatly. Despite of this,the next breakthrough in magnetic detection will be inevitable in vector magnetic detection. In orderto fully understand the technology of magnetic vector detection, this paper this paper focuses ondeveloping magnetic vector detection equipment.In this paper, the study about vector detection system of weak magnetic object including:Established the magnetic vector model of the ferromagnetic object induced by geomagnetic; A filtercombines with mathematical morphology filtering and HHT filtering based on EMD decompositionwas studied according to the geomagnetic characteristics of changing with time and location; Becauseof the strict requirements of vector sensor’s orientation, full tensor gradient detection method wasused, by measuring the all gradients of the three magnetic component, the position and magneticparameters can be known; In order to eliminate the unwanted disturbance by the vehicles and someother instruments in magnetic detection. A calibration algorithm for tri-axial magnetometer waspresented, which can remove the unwanted disturbance. The simulation results show that thecalibration algorithm is competent for different noise levels.The last part of this paper described the development of the magnetic vector detection equipmentand full tensor gradient detection equipment. Include: the design of test stand, the development ofdata acquisition software and the structure of hardware. The outdoor experiments of magnetic vectordetection and full tensor gradient detection was experimented, using the actual signal collected fromsensors to verify the effectiveness of the filtering algorithm and the positioning algorithm.
