| Chinese nation has its long history of arranging landscape situations inside theurban areas. Landscape situation characterizes the typical oriental dwelling environment,which is obviously different from the western city styles. In China, almost every cityhas its distinct tradition of landscape arrangements, such traditional styles are valuablehistoric heritages that can be applied to modern city landscape situation arrangementsand should be preserved and carried forward. Nowadays, for the sake of great recoveryof Chinese Culture, we should apply the economy and function oriented designingmethods, developing the city in an all-round way, with the humanistic elements highlyemphasized. With respect to the arrangement of landscape situations inside the city, weshould skillfully and harmoniously integrate the city planning with methods andtheories of local landscape situation arrangement.Since very ancient time, Chinese people have been making ceaseless efforts toremodel the nature. One distinct characteristic of such remodeling work is, the Chinesepeople integrally grasp the features of the natural landscapes with their macro-visions,opening up large areas for humans’ dwelling places such as cities. During that process,Chinese people have attached much importance to the perfect integration of both naturallandscapes and urban structure. The long history evolution has yielded many wonderfulcreations of landscape situation arrangement, as well as generated the Chinesetraditional wisdom of landscape situation arrangement. The historic landscape situationsin Shaoxing City is integrated with many ideas of landscape situation arrangements andthe landscapes in Shaoxing city should be considered the deposits of Chinese cultureinside the city. Such landscapes realize the harmony between nature and culture insidethe artificial environments. This study, starting from the analysis of landscape situations, tries to conduct case analysis of Shaoxing City, which is in the Zhejiang Province ofJiangnan Area, searching and scrutinizing the wisdoms of landscape situationarrangement of Shaoxing City by integrating the concept of human dwelling landscapeenvironment. This study tries to, through analyzing the history evolution of landscapesituation arrangement of Shaoxing City, introduce and interpret the multiple elementscontained inside the landscape situations with strong characteristics of Jiangnan Area.By conducting analysis, interpretation, and so forth of the history evolution in anall-round way, this paper also attempts to discuss the influences such factors exert onthe development of landscape arrangements by consulting the laws of their naturalevolution.At the end of this paper, this study, by applying the methods of qualitative andquantitative analysis, summarizes the features of city landscape situations, which are theresults of the combination of human activities and natural environment, extractingtheories and ideas behind the practices of the arrangements, which will serve thecontemporary city planning and landscape situation arrangements. In addition to that,this study also aims to serve the protection and renovation of the culture relics ofShaoxing City, a historical cultural city with the consultations of case references andhistoric experiences, so as to enrich the theories related to the construction of ChineseLandscape cities. Meanwhile, this study also aspires to summon the people’s attentionand concerns to the preservations of Chinese historic Cultures, promoting the smoothsuccession of traditional Chinese culture, as well as displaying such precious cultureheritages in the construction of City landscapes. |
