The ground motion in earthquake is a complex multi-dimensional movement accordingto theoretical research or experience. It’s necessary to consider the combined effects ofmultiple seismic ground motion for the important and complex structure, because it isprobably not safe enough only to consider one-dimensional seismic. In essence, groundmotion is a space function. But one-dimensional method is used to assess structure underseismic excitation mostly. The text investigates on the one-dimensional and multidimensionalseismic reaction analysis of the large-span spatial grids structure using the method of timehistory from various aspects, and the following achievements have been obtained:1、A network of shell structure model and dynamic characteristics analysis is carried out byMIDAS GEN finite element software.2、One-dimensional dynamic response is studied in this paper.Three different directions analysis of earthquake action are carried out. The similaritiesand differences are compared in each single dimension’s response caused by seismic load onthe structure. The rule of single dimension response of structures is summarized underearthquake.3、Response of structural dynamic under multi-dimensional earthquake is studied.Multi-dimensional seismic actions of three kinds of seismic waves are analyzed by usingtime history analysis method. Similarities and differences between the response of thestructure are compared under the action of seismic waves, the rule is summarized.4、The dynamic response of structures under one-dimensional and multidimensional seismicexcitation is summarized,an apparent result has been obtained.
