Fast development of Chinese economy requires safe, reliable and largecapacity power grid. However, continuous appearance of transmission lineicing and insulator flashover and power shortage is opposite to this requirement.So transmission line online monitoring devices are fixed on the lines to monitoroperating state and give an alarm in time. Yet backstage data processing methoddevelopment in transmission line online monitoring system is slow. Thecollected data is only analyzed simply and can not be deep researched to studyinformation in them. Therefore, this paper brings in the grey relational analysisto study the online monitoring data of transmission line icing, insulatorflashover and dynamic capacity-increase.In the transmission line icing research, one variant linear regressionanalysis is used to study the main influential factor of line icing. The result isthat quantitative analysis results are not consistent with qualitative results. Thenthe grey relational analysis method is adopted and the specific research step andthe test method are provided. Further, the example is used to prove that theapplication of the grey relational analysis method to study on transmission lineicing main influential factor is feasible. Finally, the grey relational analysismethod is used to predict icing thickness and an example proves thisapplication is feasible.In the insulator flashover research, the grey relational analysis method isadopted to study the main influential factor of insulator flashover. At the sametime, the specific research step and the test method are provided. Further anexample proves that quantitative analysis result is consistent with qualitativeresult.In the research of transmission line dynamic capacity-increase, the greyrelational analysis method is used to study the main influential factor of transmission line rating. The specific research step and the test method are alsoprovided. Then the online monitoring data certifies the feasibility of thismethod. Finally, grey relational degree between research sequence and standardsequence is calculated to ensure capacity-increase.
