Research On Highway Plane And Vertical Alignment Based On Driver’s Visual Characteristics

With the development of highway, road alignment design based on the visualcharacteristic of driver increasingly is taken seriously. At the same time, traffic accident dueto road alignment on driving is growing rapidly. So the illusion analysis and countermeasurecaused by road alignment are more concerned by home and oversea scholar. At present, roadalignment design specification indicator is determined by the basis of driving theory and thepurpose of enduring stability of driving, with less considering the factor of human physicaland psychic reaction.Facts proved that one of important reason that accident is frequentlyoccurred on the road which fully meets the existing specification is driving illusion. Roadalignment unreasonable design easily causes driving illusion even if it meets the existingdesign specification of highway. Therefore, it is a fundamental that effectively reducingdriving illusion and making alignment design specification of people-oriented.The concept of visual deviation is given firstly. And it is divided into the visual error andvisual illusion. The relative basic knowledge of visual deviation is systematically concludedand analyzed. Road segments of visual deviation on the plane, vertical section andcombination of plane and vertical section are theoretically analyzed and are simulated by theanimation of road design software card-1. Different visual deviation phenomenons areanalyzed by the sample investigation of perception that experienced drivers watch animationsimulation. The result indicates that it is threaten to driving security by visual deviation dueto road alignment. Because road alignment meet driver psychology by adjusting parametersof alignment design. It can eliminate or reduce the adverse influence of visual deviation andimprove the road security.Finally, some suggestions of road alignment design are put forward according to analysisof countermeasures of visual deviation due to road alignment based on above mentionedtheory research.
