Along with the rapid development of social economy of our country and industrialization,people’s demand for water is growing. In order to solve the increasingly sharp contradictionbetween supply and demand of water resources, people are paying more and more attention tothe long distance water conveyance project, at the same time water hammer protectionproblem also appears increasingly prominent. In long-distance water-transmission line,especially in the high lift, multi-fluctuations and pressure pipes water hammer protection isthe most difficult, the water hammer accident is the most. Cavities collapsing Water hammer,in particular, frequent occurrence, great harm, once happen will cause significant physicaldamage to property. Therefore, choosing the safe and reliable, economic and reasonable waterhammer protective measures is particularly important to prevent the transient flowphenomenon caused by water hammer accident, in order to guarantee the safety operation ofthe long distance water conveyance system. Actual project need more technology in this field,this article mainly has carried on the exploration to this.One, this paper briefly expounds the commonly used characteristic line method inhydraulic transition process.Combining with the characteristic line method and all kinds ofboundary conditions, water hammer calculation mathematics model is established. Usingcomputer languages compile the visual program for calculation of water hammer protection,then analysis the calculation. This provides a reference value for the analysis of the transientprocess in high lift, multi-fluctuations, pressure flow and long-distance water supply system.Two, Pumping station and pipeline water hammer protection measures in high lift,multi-fluctuations, pressure flow and long-distance water supply system are analyzedrespectively, and the problems that should be paid attention to when making the choice issummarized.Three, Combined with two engineering examples of high lift, multi-fluctuations,pressure flow and long-distance water supply system simulation calculation has beenperformed on water hammer protection, and the water hammer protection schemes arecompared. According to the actual characteristics of the project, we should select reasonable, effective and economic water hammer protective measures.Four, for high lift, multi-fluctuations, pressure flow and long-distance water supplysystem, comprehensive use of a variety of water hammer protection measures are usuallybetter than single use of one kind of measures to eliminate water hammer effect. In actualengineering, for the long distance water conveyance project, we should analyze the type ofwater hammer on the basis of the condition of the pipeline, and then based on thecharacteristics of pipeline and combined with the advantages and disadvantages of all kinds ofwater hammer protective measures, chose the most economical and reliable water hammerprotective measures, to ensure the safe and stable operation of long distance waterconveyance pipeline.
