Since the21st century, the transportation industry has been developed rapidly in ourcountry. And as a result, the application of continuous steel box Girder Bridge is more andmore widely. In this paper, on the basis of a review on previous researches, some research hasbeen taken relying on some real project by systematized computational analysis. On the onehand, continuous steel box Girder Bridge is studied in the first and the second category ofstability problems intensively. And then, failure mechanism of its transverse overturningstability problem is summarized by contrasting datum of calculation and analysis. On theother hand, some influence parameters that affect the stability against capsizing of bridge arediscussed by cross-tabulation of the various specimens. In the paper, the main work are asfollowings:Firstly, the present situation of the development of the continuous steel box girder bridgeis described. Especially, structure characteristics of steel box Girder Bridge is summed up.What’s more, the present research achievement at home and abroad of stability problems insteel box Girder Bridge is carefully summarized in different categories. Then, the theory andsimulation methods of three kinds of finite element models are expounded intensively. And,the advantages and disadvantages and calculation accuracy of each model are compared byCalculational Examples.Secondly, the stability problem theory of continuous steel box girder bridge issummarized, and its analysis methods are systemized. The overall stability and the ultimatebearing capacity stability are separately connected and analyzed adopting the single beammodel, the beam model and shell model relying on the real project. In the last, the bucklingsafety factor of continuous steel box girder bridge can be acquired reliably.Thirdly, the failure mechanism and evaluation system of its transverse overturningstability problem is summarized by contrasting datum of calculation and analysis. Then,calculation of the capacity of resisting to capsize is taken relying on the real project. What’smore, some influence parameters that affect the stability against capsizing of bridge arediscussed by cross-tabulation of the various specimens, which can provide reference for theanalysis and the design of similar bridges.
