Brace is a kind of frame member that can offer enough resisting stiffness to structure,damper can reduce reaction of structure under earthquake. Buckling restrained brace(BRB) made by low-yield steel is a new-type energy-dissipating structural member.Low-yield steel has a lower yield than ordinary steel, which can dissipate energy in alittle strain. In this thesis, BLY100low-yield steel is used to research and develop a BRBdamper, which can overcome the disadvantages of the conventional brace because of itsbuckling inhabitation. Thereforeļ¼Œthe brace have a good application prospect.Firstly, mechanism and form of BRB made by low-yield steel are introduced. Then,use ANSYS to analyze six dampers with different area and length. In this way, we can findthe relationship of energy dissipation, non-yield stiffness and post-yield stiffness. Secondly,make one damper and test it by cyclic load, the results show that hysteretic curves are veryfull and the dampers have good energy dissipation, and consistent with the ANSYSanalysis conclusions. Finally, an engineering example indicates BRB have good seismicability that can improve the bearing capacity of the structure. The BRB can reducestructure reaction under earthquake and reduce damage of main frame and improvestructure seismic capability.The BRB damper made of BLY100low-yield steel can reduce the structure internalforce of the earthquake and is a good seismic energy dissipation device with a goodprospect.
