There was great potential value for using bamboo culms to produce bioethanol, in term of highbiomass, wide distribution and adaptability and sustained yield, the content of hemi-cellulose andcellulose could be regarded as an important economical parameter for evaluating biomass ethanolproduction. The yield of bamboo shoot processing residue was big in our country, which was1.6milliontons per year. It was introduced to use bamboo resuidues to produce bioethanol.Central composite design(CCD) were applied to optimize of process of bamboo pretreatment, enzymolysis and fermentation by Candida shehatae. The results showed that the pretreatmentconditions were1%NaOH,121℃and30min.Under this conditions, the base could hydrolyze15gbamboo powder to obtain13.5g residuum. The enzymolysis conditions were enzyme addition volume1.4g, pH4.4and hydrolyzed at40℃for48h. Under this enzymolysis conditions, monosaccharideproductivity was3.49g from4g bamboo powder and the conversion ratio was87.4%. In the process offermentation, the conditions were monosaccharide concentration60g/L, pH6.0, inoculum volume6%(v/v) and250mL flask containing100mL medium and cultivated at32℃for60h and the agitationspeed was140r/min. Under this fermentation conditions, ethanol concentration was11.59g/L.The yieldof ethanol is165g/kg with bamboo as raw material and ethanol gaining rate was16.5%.
