High-rise building structure is different from general building and structures, dueto the characteristic of structural type and the scope of application, wind-inducedresponse becomes the key factor of the design of high-rise buildings. Thus, accurateassessment of wind-induced response and guide the practical design is one of the mostimportant works in the research of current wind-engineering experiment of high-risebuilding structures. Wind load and damping which includes structural damping andaerodynamic damping are key contents in wind-induces response of structures.Aerodynamic damping of high-rise building is mainly due to the coupling effectbetween vibrating structure and turbulent flow in the flow field which can bedangerous if it was simply ignored by designers in the course of design as its valuecan both be positive and negative. On one hand, the design will be conservative andaffect the economical efficiency of the whole building, if the aerodynamic damping ispositive; on the other hand, if it is negative, it will be much more dangerous if theaerodynamic damping was blindly ignored in the course of design due to the lose offully aware of the influence of wind-induced vibration response. As a result, theaerodynamic damping of high-rise building structure is one of the importantparameters affecting safety and rational application.This paper was mainly based on the wind tunnel test of single degree of freedomelastic square section model which is480meters high, take a further step to improvethe distribution character and main feature of the aerodynamic damping in all winddirections based on the achievement of the predecessors, the main works of this paperis as follows:(1) Make further efforts to optimize precision accuracy in the identification ofaerodynamic damping, aiming at the summary of a set of exhaustively feasibleoperational approach, get ready for the follow-up study abundantly.(2) Redesigned the single degree of freedom elastic model and its elastic base,recurred the achievement of the predecessors and provided all the attentionsthroughout the manufacturing process, pointed out the selection of materials anddesign drawings.(3) Based on16wind angels and8different testing velocities, went deep intothe testing data of the126test cases wind tunnel test. Authenticated the along-wind and cross-wind achievements of the predecessors and went further to recognize handlethe aerodynamic damping of the model in X and Y axis in the other wind directions,tried to summarize each damping changing rules along with the increase of reducedvelocity, and trend of development in changing rules along with the wind direction.At the end, further works on aerodynamic damping was summarized anddiscussed.
