As an important means to improve the stealth performance of the surface warship, thestealth design is being increasingly attached great importance to the navies. The mast stealthperformance directly affects the quality of the whole warship structure stealth performancebecause its highest location at the warship. Therefore, most countries have begun to adoptstealth integrated mast in the warship design in order to improve its stealth performance. Inthis paper, because of the particularity of the stealth integrated mast design compared to thetraditional mast, the primary structural design method of composites radome was formedthrough the design load calculation method of the stealth integrated mast radome, structuraldesign and mechanical properties analysis of the radome, so as to provide a reference tostructural design of the stealth integrated mast radome.First of all, the typical stealth integrated mast structure was proposed based on theforeign research achievement, the comprehensive consideration of the shape and materialstealth requirements, and the domestic existing shipboard communication equipment. Becausethe particularity of stealth mast shape design leads to its different flow characteristics,numerical method was adopted to simulate its wind load distribution characteristics, and thenthe design wind load calculation method of the radome was proposed through the analysis ofthe distribution of average pressure and fluctuating pressure in the circumferential and axialdirection.Secondly, according to the stiffness criterion of the composites radome structural designput forward in this paper, the radome laminates structure which the strength also satisfies therequirements was obtained. The arc-length method was adopted to analyze the nonlinearstability of the composites radome, and the critical load safety factor of the radome structurewas obtained. Furthermore, the whole and local first-order vibration mode and thecorresponding natural vibration frequency of the composites radome were obtained throughthe vibration characteristic analysis of the stealth integrated mast. The analysis results showthat the stability and frequency separation rate of the composites radome all satisfy therequirements of engineering application.Thirdly, according to the particularity of the composites radome structure, load characteristics, working environment, as well as the installation and maintenance requirement,typical joints structure of the composites radome and steel main body was proposed.Three-dimensional entity analysis method was adopted to check the strength of the jointstructure, and the results show that the strength of the joints structure satisfies therequirements of engineering application.Fourthly, the simplified damage and fatigue test mechanics model of the radome jointswere determined based on the mechanics principle. And the typical failure mode and ultimatestrength were obtained through the typical joints damage test. The ultimate strength whichpredicted by the progressive failure analysis method was in good agreement with theexperimental values. What’s more, the fatigue properties were studied by the typical jointfatigue test, and the fatigue life was also predicted.
