With the continuous development of detection technology and weaponry, the probabilityof ship detection and combat is rising, the ship’s stealth performance is essential for reducingthe ship combat probability. Closed interlayer composite mast is designed under the shipstealth considerations, has better stealth performance, and is favored by many navy countries.Closed interlayer composite mast adapts to the needs of modern naval warfare, and is themain direction of future ship development. The composite mast is the platform of someimportant equipments,the structure must meet the mechanical characteristics necessary tomeet their requirements.So the research of the ship mast composite laminate stability issignificant to guarantee the proposities of the composite mast comprehensively improve theoverall performance of the ship and adapt to the development of modern naval warfare.According to the ship interlayer composite mast stability problem, the ship mast loadcharacteristics and the interlayer composite mechanical properties are analysis by thetheoretical method in this paper.Combined with the experimental and numerical methods, thestability problem of composite laminate structure is studied.Firstly, acccrding to the structural characteristics of mast interlayer composite laminate,through the laminate method, the stiffness characteristics of the ship mast composite laminateis studied. This can improve the regularity of the composite material understanding andprovide a reference for design and stability analysis of the ship composite mast.Secondly, the load and boundary conditions are analyzed, the test samples which canreflect the stability characteristics of the ship mast are obtained.Though the ship mastcomposite laminate structure stability test,the failure modes of the ship mast compositelaminate structure are obtained.By processing and analysis of experimental data,the failureprocess of the ship mast composite laminate is get.Thirdly, by studying the strength criterion of stability analysis method, failure method,numerical analysis method, mast composite laminate structure stability numerical analysismodel is established used ANSYS APDL according to the test sample model with the windloads in consideration. The numerical results are compared with the test results to verify thecorrectness of the calculation method. Fourthly, the3D solid element numerical model is established according to the mastcomposite laminate structure with the ABAQUS, and the virtual crack closure technology(VCCT) is used to establish the ship mast composite laminate structure fiberglass corematerial interface relationship. The process of delamination mode is studied, which can give areference to prevent the composite mast hierarchical failure.Finally, the mast structure transition position is simplified with assumptions, by theenergy method combined with the equivalent stiffness method, the stability problems ofvariable cross-section of the ship mast composite laminate structure is calculated. The resultsby theoretical calculations are compared to the test data, and the correction method isproposed, then the feasibility of the calculation method is verified.The cross-section mastcomposite laminate structure stability of the calculation method is obtained in this paper.
