Currently, air traffic equipment is widely used in a variety of aviation equipment.The secondary radar with A/C mode target quantity exposed many problems whenthen number of aircraft increase to a certain numbers.The mode S protocol used in airtraffic control equipment is advanced secondary radar communication protocoldeveloped by United States and Europe country. The traditional mode A/C protocol isgradually replacing by mode S protocol. Air traffic control mode S transponder is veryimportant equipment, Article describes mode S agreement and work system in briefly.Including: origins and characteristics of mode S; mode S interrogation signal andresponse signal format、meaning、category and mechanism; upper and lower rows ofdata format、meaning. Successfully developed a vertical antenna diversity systemmechanism Air traffic control mode S transponder dual channel receiver inarticle.receiver mades principle analysis to each key indicators, and describes designflow. All indicators of the receiver have been testing. Receiver sensitivity≤-84dBmis better than indicators proposed by system.The difficulty of this project is achieve a high sebsitivity、wide dynamic range,aswell as anti-burning and other technical difficulties.According to the signal strength byvertical antenna to select mode S signal, at last achieve mode S signal demodulation.The article describes theory and principle analysis of air traffic control mode Stransponder receiver.Finally,I developed a receiver to show performance andindicators.The article combines mode S demodulation with mode A/C demodulation based onconventional receiver principle analysis. Integration design in small volume. Achievedreceiver with a high sebsitivity、wide dynamic range,low power consumption,as well asanti-burning and stable performance,Mode A/C sensitivity≤-84dBm, Mode Ssensitivity≤-77dBm, Dynamic range≥60dB, Anti-burning≥800W(plus stlye). Atpresent, this device has been mass-produced, and widly used in air traffic equipment.
