Tens of thousands of kilometers of inland routes covering one-third of the country, both sides of the river trade routes bank protection works guarding the lives and property of our residents. Usually the material of waterway revetment structures, in order to reduce maintenance costs, mainly concrete. The construction of bank protection works inevitably arise partiall damages due to natural disasters, the earthquake and possible secondary disasters induced by the earthquake, and the impact of the ship. These reasons has become underestimated. So far, It has not been reported of any work about barge-floodwall collision that has been done by the researchers in China.Learn from the collision accidents already known to us, taking advantage of the methods that has been made in the field of barge collisions at home and abroad, the theoretical analysis and the dynamic characteristics of the system of a barge impact concrete wall revetment structure will be discussed this article. The barge-floodwall system will be simplified as a two-degree-of-freedom mass-spring system based on vibration theory. With the establishment of the motion equations, we should get the factors that affect the dynamic characteristics of the system. And draw in the special case of linear analytical equations, contrast to the empirical formula given by ETL1110-2-563Guide from USACE, it can be verified that the two-degree-of-freedom mass-spring system used to simplify the barge-wall collision system is effectiveness. In the nonlinear case for the barge-wall collision analysis, ANSYS/LS-DYNA nonlinear finite element software should be used for numerical simulation. As a result, the collision response process should be obtained. Further more, this article has discussed the influence of the impact force under three different conditions, one is the same impact angle at different speeds, the other is different impact angle at same speeds the third is same impact angle and the initial velocity with changing constraints at the bottom of the wall. Finally, through this study on barge impact on the concrete wall, it may provide some basis and reference for the further reserch.
