In recent years, the power qualityattracts more and more the concern of the powercompanies, electrical equipment manufacturers, power users and professional powerengineers. The nonlinear devices introduced in the power system has led to client’svoltage, current distortion, power quality is deteriorating. Among most of the powerquality problems, because of its randomness, transient disturbance of short duration, theseverity of the hazard characteristics, is always the focusand difficultyof the study. Foraccurate detection and analysis of transient power quality problems, it can provide aneffective basis for follow-up treatment and improvement.Transient power quality disturbances caused by a variety of non-linear loads andimpact for the power signal using the wavelet algorithm to systems analysis and testing,and design in FPGA platform detection algorithm IP core. Firstly, the paper gives thetransient disturbance harmonic and transient mathematical description, on this basis,combined with transient power quality signal characteristics of transient signaldenoising problem, from the point of view of the wavelet transform using animprovedwavelet threshold denoising algorithm, simulation results verify theeffectiveness of the wavelet threshold denoising algorithm.Secondly, with DSP Buildertool, and t filter structures the basis mallat algorithm wavelet algorithm to solve real-time wavelet detection method is poor, not high, large amount of computation and theaccuracy of the simulation results also verify the accuracy and feasibility. With the helpof DSP Builder design, we use a modular approach to design a wavelet detectionalgorithm IP core, and its occupied resource optimization, and real-time optimization.Finally, according to the characteristics of the transient disturbance, design typicaldisturbance source, to examine the performance of the detection algorithm on thehardware platform, the results show that the design is accurate and feasible. The paper accomplished IP core design of transient disturbance detection methodwith parallel processing FPGAplatform, flexibility, good real-time characteristics of thedisturbance signalanalysis and processing can be achieved. Over thetypicaldisturbancesourcetesting, results analysis confirmed the correctness of the design and effectiveness.
