CAD/CAPP/CAM integration technology is the basis of key technology ofCIMS and virtual manufacturing. Therefore,it is a very important significance tostudy CAM/CAD/CAPP technology for developing and improving virtualmanufacturing system development. CAD, CAM technology has been widely used.Three-dimensional computer simulation technology is more and more used inmanufacturing industry, especially the three-dimensional CAD system has beenapplied maturely in parts design. CAPP is a bridge between CAD and CAM, due toits complexity, which is not keep up with the development pace of3D-CAD andCAM. Research on key technology of Virtual Manufacturing Oriented3D-CAPPsystem has become an important research field in modern manufacturing technology,its development and application will directly have effect on the development ofvirtual manufacturing, and is important significance to realize the whole productprocess form conceptual design to final implementation in simulation.In this paper, analyse and research on key technology of virtual manufacturingoriented3D-CAPP system. Based on the analysis of virtual manufacturing system, todetermine the3D-CAPP system information input is the geometric characteristics ofthe parts from STEP neutral file generated by UG. In decision-making process, itcombine improved genetic algorithm with knowledge representation method ofproduction rules. System will deposit feature data and making decision process datain the parts information database and dynamic database, and manage effectively thedata,in order to query and call from other subsystems of virtual manufacturing, trulyrealizing the sharing of each subsystem data in virtual manufacturing system.Virtualmanufacturing oriented3D-CAPP makes use of modular ideas and feedbackmechanism in structure design, forming a closed loop3D-CAPP system, everymodule is independent each other, but it can achieve data sharing and realize theCAD/CAPP/CAM integration. The system design is based on Windows XP, using VC++6.0and UG5.0as adevelopment platform, establish database using Microsoft Office Access2003. Andstepped shaft process design verify the application system, running results show thatthe system can generate effective processing route, at the same time also can provideother unit in virtual manufacturing system with accurate data information.It not onlystrengthens the CAD/CAPP/CAM data sharing, improve process design level anddesign quality, but also enhance the CAPP system flexibility, extensibility anddynamic adaptability.
