Since the new century, energy crisis and environmental pollution arebecoming more and more serious. In the current situation, in order to alleviate ofthese problems, hybrid electric vehicle has been gradually widespread attentionas a new energy means of transportation. The battery management system is thecore functional unit of hybrid electric vehicle. It can be able to prompt themileage, extend battery lifespan, as well as ensure traffic safety. So it is veryimportant to research the more reasonable battery management system.The paper firstly introduces the development of the hybrid electric vehicle aswell as the lithium battery, and analyzes the operational principle and electricalcharacteristics of it and the select the battery. After analyzing and summarizing avariety of battery estimation methods and comprehensively considering theaccuracy and usefulness, and Support Vector Machine (SVM) neural networkmodel is established, and then tested and simulated by MATLAB. The hardwarecircuit of lithium battery management system is designed to use the PSoC3chipCY8C3866PVI-070of Cypress Company as its controller chip, and it alsoincludes the circuit of signal acquisitions about temperature, current, voltage,power balancing control and CAN communication. Meanwhile, as a new voltagechip to measure battery, LTC6803can complete acquisition and balanced ofvoltage.The design of software applies the modular ideas. It first design the overallprocess of system software, and then design the modular program flow, such asthe information collection of external characteristics, power balance, estimationof remaining power, CAN communication and fault diagnosis. Then set up a testbench and test the lithium battery management system, and verify functions ofthe system about external information collection, balanced circuit control,remaining capacity estimation, CAN communication and so on to verify the correctness and applicability of system.
