| Controlled&preserved buildings are the unique concept of Suzhou’s architectural heritage and refer to the buildings possessing the historical, artistic, scientific value and so on, which have been authorized by Suzhou Municipal Government but have not yet been published as Cultural Relics Protection Units. Through literature review, this research combs authenticity, controlled&preserved buildings, and related theories like historical&cultural buildings; analyzes the authenticity of space and function conversion as well as material and technique changes during the repair and maintenance of controlled&preserved buildings from the viewpoint of ecological holism; evaluates the practical implementation of authenticity during the maintenance of controlled&preserved buildings through typical cases and thus on this basis puts forward the strategy of maintaining controlled&preserved buildings. The conclusions are as follows:(1) Controlled&preserved buildings belong to architectural heritages and should follow the authenticity principle of Architectural Heritage Conservation;(2) The repair and maintenance of controlled&preserved buildings shall manage the authenticity scale from the aspects of history and reality, materiality and immateriality, architectural ontology and external environment, etc.(3) The authenticity of controlled&preserved buildings is affected in different degrees during the space and function conversion as well as material and construction technology.(4) From the viewpoint of the authenticity maintenance, the repairing practice of Suzhou’s controlled&preserved buildings still has some problems at present. Our future work should establish a socialized protection system; specify the protection and management responsibility system; strengthen the superintendence of the maintenance project’s quality; improve the education and scientific research on ancient building; enhance the life vitality of controlled&preserved buildings. |
