Due to the increase in automobile ownership and serious environmental pollutionproblems, the study of electric vehicle and hybrid vehicle are received more and moreattention. Pure electric vehicles can truly realize zero emissions. It is one of the ideal ways tosolve the shortage of oil resources and air pollution problems. However, the batterytechnology, charging stations and a short driving range limit the development stage of pureelectric vehicles. The plug-in hybrid vehicles can realize the zero emissions in short range, butalso can increase the driving range. So it does not affect the demand for long-distance driving.In this paper, it dose the powertrain match of a plug-in series hybrid electric vehicle anduses AVL cruise to do the simulation. According to the requirement of the vehicle, the energymanagement control strategy which is based on the driver demand is proposed. According todifferent conditions, the paper proposes the multi-grade working mode control strategy.Finally, according to the common path demand, it proposes the energy management controlstrategies in common path. Contents of this paper are mainly the following aspects:Firstly, do the powertrain parameters matching of the plug-in series hybrid electricvehicle. Calculate the drive motor, battery, engine-generator set and vehicle transmissionratio. Use AVL cruise establish pure electric model, simulate the vehicle dynamic in the pureelectric mode simulation.Based on the existing plug-in series hybrid electric vehicle control strategy, and thedriver ’s needs, the paper do the study of how the vehicle control strategy to meet the needs ofthe driver. Then proposes the energy management control strategy which is based on thedemand of the driver.Based on the different need of the plug-in series hybrid electric vehicles in differentconditions, the paper tries to find different working conditions to meet the demand of thevehicle. It develops the multi-grade working mode conditions of the plug-in series hybridelectric vehicle, and combined with the energy management control strategy which is basedon the demand of the driver. Finally, it gets the final energy management control strategy anduses AVL cruise do the simulation and analysis. Then verify the feasibility of the controlstrategy.Based on the plug-in series hybrid electric vehicles working conditions in common path,this paper analysis the control strategy in common path, proposes the energy managementcontrol strategies in common path. In this control strategy, it can achieve greater use ofbattery power instead of vehicle fuel consumption to improve the economy. Then this paperuses AVL cruise to validate the good economy of this control strategy.
