With the sharp development of Chinese economy and the number of urban population,Traffic congestion is increasingly restricting the development of city. Urban rail transit(Metro) as an efficient means of transport, favored by more and more cities. It has a large volume, fast, safe, reliable, punctual and comfortable, and less pollution, etc.,can effectively ease urban traffic pressure. Subway stations construction in the downtown area of the city require a higher require on the environment and the surrounding ground transportation, cover-excavation method often become the preferred method of construction of the subway station because of it’s safe, practical, affordable construction cost, and small urban road traffic impact. This context is based on the engineering of the May4th square station of Qingdao subway.First, introduced the application and research status of the cover-excavation method in underground engineering, conduct a construction method selection for the specific case of the May4th square station. Second, make a detailed construction information monitoring program and control standards for the construction of the station, part of the monitoring data were analyzed. Third, the construction process was simulated by Midas/Gts and make a comparative analysis between simulated results and monitoring results. Finally, analyzes the influence of structural performance by the construction and installation precision of steel columns, and introduce the precise method of steel columns construction.
