With the rapid development of science technology, as well as the higherrequirements for working efficiency, the quality of life, the demand of automationelectrical equipment used in the places of home, office, medical care,transportation and industrial have expanded. As the drive equipment, small motorsused on these new electrical appliances attract more and more widely attention.Stimulated by permanent magnet, this motor is suitable for small appliances.U-shape single phase permanent magnet synchronous motor is a member ofpermanent magnet motors. Permanent magnet motor has complex internalelectromagnetic fields distribution due to its own structure, which has a significantimpact on working performance and conditions. The research of study onimproving this motor’s performance has important significance.First, the research of the motor’s main structure discusses the way of startingand running conditions the capacity of the motor, points out the specialelectromagnetic structure—asymmetric gap structure is the reason to get startingcapability, while affects the static condition. The pulsating magnetic field suppliedby single-phase motor winding is the key to continue rotation of the rotor. Theresearch uses the double rotating theory, explains the principle of self-start andrunning process, clarifies the working process and characteristics of the motor.Secondly, for the characteristic of accurately calculation when using thefinite element theory in the analysis of magnetic field problems, establishestwo-dimensional finite element model of the motor, to solve the distribution ofelectromagnetic field of the motor. According to the answers of calculation,extracts and analysis the data of magnet flux in air gap along the rotor. Throughchanging the structure shape of the non-uniform air gap, the research identifies thefunctional relationship between the air gap parameters and the starting degree、the cogging torque。Using the function to improve the air gap parameters based onmultiobjective optimization of genetic algorithm.Finally, calculate the improved motor in dynamic two-dimensionalelectromagnetic field. Analyzes the motor’s starting characteristics of motor under different conditions. Research motor running speed and torque characteristics, andprovide evidence for further evidence design of the U-shaped single-phasepermanent magnet motor.
