According to the depth application of modern communication, computer, and control technology in grid systems, smart grid holds an important position in the economy, society, life and the modern energy development system as well as promoting clear energy development and transforming energy patterns. The Plug-in Electric Vehicles’(PEVs) massive adoption shall bring ineluctable impact to the electric system. Therefore studying on the optimized scheduling of PEVs has significant meanings.This paper, based on the background of PEVs’largely adoption to the smart grid, firstly analyzes the current situation and development trend of the smart grid and PEVs, together with the discussion on the impact of PEVs adoption, the analysis on the availability of scheduling PEV charging for grid operation, and the summary of smart grid PEV scheduling’s basic structure.Combined with the study of existing main methods for PEV charging scheduling in the smart grid, aiming at their shortage of efficiency and guarantee of PEV owners’ charging quality-of-service, this paper proposes the PEV charging scheduling methods for multi-level-of-service and multi-quality-of-service charging requirements, which can improve the economical efficiency while ensuring grid safety, and satisfy the charging requirements with the utilization of grid service ability.In order to achieve the PEV charging scheduling with the utilization of resident various PEV owners charging requirements, this paper divides the charging requirements by multi-level-of-service and multi-quality-of-service charging requirements, and proposes the service-preemption-based inter-process scheduling methods for different level-of-service charging requirements. The proposed methods divide the grid power fluctuation into available power fluctuation and net power fluctuation, and proposed corresponding scheduling methods to switch on or off the PEVs charging processes in responding to the grid power fluctuation. The proposed methods can lower grid load peak-to-valley ratio while fully utilizing the grid power, and can make the grid operates on economic load to guarantee safety and economical efficiency.Furthermore, to better satisfy the charging time requirements of PEV owners, this paper proposes inner scheduling methods for different quality-of-service charging requirements, and proposes slack-time-based queue priority algorithm aiming at original arrival-time priority algorithm. Compared to the original algorithm, the proposed algorithm can improve the PEV owners’charging satisfaction, and can be used as a reference to evaluate the grid service ability, showing preferred performance and application value.
