Diatomite has many unique physical and chemical properties, such as low density, low rigidity, highly porous structure, large surface area, and strong adsorptive capability, so it is widely used in industrial production. The purification of diatomaceous earth was introduced and the carbon-silicon composites were prepared by magnesium reduction of diatomaceous earth and carbon-coated method. The surface morphology and the physical phase were studied. The materials were used as the anode of lithium-ion batteries and the electrochemical properties of the composites have been discussed, such as the maximum stable discharge capacity, cycling stability, charging conservation rate, charge-discharge rate, discharging at low temperature and charge-discharge at high temperature. The results showed that the composites were pure silicon particles. Under the condition of100mA/g, the initial discharge capacity was1790mAh/g, after30cycles, the discharge capacity maintained at406mAh/g. |
