With the power quality problems becoming the attention of the academic community,thetechnology which made the electrical equipment to operate in unity power factor andused to eliminate grid harmonics "pollution" effectively is rapid development. PWMrectifier as one of the major cleaning grid for the purpose of power electronic devices,also get full attention in academic circles, and has made great progress. This articleconducts the following research on the theory and application of PWM four-quadrantrectifier.Firstly, it analyzes the four-quadrant operation and process of the PWM rectifieron the base of the principles of the PWM rectifier.Secondly, for the diversity of PWM rectifier, it chooses the three-phase voltage-typePWM rectifier as the object of study. Introducing its topology, establishing themathematical models and circuit structures in the three coordinate systems, The paperproposes main circuit parameter selection rules.Thirdly, it details several controlling strategies of PWM rectifier, such as hysteresiscurrent,triangular wave comparison,sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) andspace voltage vector (SVPWM). The article analyzes the advantages and disadvantagesof various control strategies, and chooses the current closed-loop control strategy basedon space voltage vector (SVPWM). Putting the current signal of AC side fed back to thecontrol system, through the PI regulator, and then perform coordinate transformation.Using the voltage vector sectors judgment as well as the basic role of the voltage vectortime to generate the PWM wave which can control the switch state of power switch. Itcould change the direction of the command current to achieve the bi-directional flow ofthe system energy. The simulation model of PWM rectifier is builted in the MATLAB/SIMULINK.Finally, according to the simulation platform structure of the circuit and the maincircuit parameters, the experimental prototype circuit has been built and an furtherverification has been generated. The results prove the correctness and validity of theprototype model and control strategy.
