In the process of generating and using electrical energy, its measurement and qualitymonitoring is vitally important. Large measurement discrepancy of the energy meter must causedirect economic loss to not only the users but also the electricity supply department. As a result,study of high-performance electrical energy measurement and checking technology has becomean increasingly important and hot research direction in electrical energy system.After thoroughly analyzing the electrical energy measuring and checking technology,based on the related standard of state grid in China, this paper introduces a solution to thecurrent electrical energy meter problem in practical application–frequent volume increase andenergy meter change due to small measuring range. The solution is a set of high precision, widemeasuring range and completely new three-phase multi-functional electric electrical meter. Themain content of this paper is as below:Firstly, this paper analyzes the research background, significance and developmentsituation all over the world of electrical energy.Thirdly, taking those functional requirements into consideration-energy metering function,maximum measurement capabilities, data storage function, communication function, displayfunction, event logging function and etc, this paper proposes the overall design of electricalenergy meter by selecting exclusive three-phase electrical energy measuring IC of widedynamic range and high precision.Fourthly, it details the design of the power source, electrical measuring IC, processor,clock, memory, RS485and the hardware circuit of the part including infrared communication,pre-paid, display and so on.The last but not the least, according to the communication protocol of electrical energymeter, this paper demonstrates the design of main software algorithm in detail–algorithm ofthe main program, sub-program for initialization, sub-program for electrical energy measuring,sub-program for communication and pre-payment.At the end of this paper, the precision checking and testing results are attached. As well, itsummarizes and analyzes the testing results.
