As a clean, non-polluting renewable energy, wind energy is increasingly subject to the attention of the world.Wind power generation has been a new energy power generation method with the most commercial development prospects and has become an important part of sustainable development strategy in many countries, therefore, it is being developed rapidly. Wind power will be bound to have a significant impact on the stability of the power grid’s frequency when it is connected to the electricity system on a large-scale. If the wind turbine can perform as a conventional unit with the ability of primary frequency regulation, it will take a very important role in reducing the action of secondary frequency regulation and maintaining the stability of the grid frequency. For the above reasons, this paper conducts an intensive research on how double-fed wind turbine participates in primary frequency regulation of the power system and has achieved some significant results.First of all, this paper introduces the primary frequency regulation principle of the power system, followed by a detailed analysis on the mathematical model of each part of the doubly-fed wind power system, then makes a research on the control technology of doubly-fed wind turbine, finally, analyzes the principle of the double-fed wind turbine participated in primary frequency regulation and a power system frequency regulation model which contains the wind power is given. In order to make doubly-fed wind turbine participate in the primary frequency adjustment, an additional frequency adjustment link is added in double-fed wind turbine control system. Inertial control strategy and improved control strategy are put forward to analysis and contrast the primary frequency regulation effect of the two frequency control strategies. The simulation results show that both two control strategies can improve the frequency response of the system, but the improved control strategy enables doubly-fed wind turbine to make a quicker response to the frequency change of the system and get a better regulation effect, thereby enhancing the frequency regulation capacity of the entire system.
