Direct formic acid fuel cell (Direct Formic Acid Fuel Cell, DFAFC) as a new type offuel cell, direct formic acid fuel, and with formic acid fuel non-toxic, membrane permeabilityis low, easy storage and transportation, so it is considered to be a portable power supply aremost likely to achieve a kind of fuel cell commercialization.The membrane electrode (MEA)is the core part of proton exchange membrane fuel cell, have great decisive effect andinfluence on battery performance.In this paper, the microwave assisted glycol preparation of Pd/C catalyst and Pt/Ccatalyst was prepared by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy spectrum test method for catalystcrystal structure, element composition were characterized.And according to the activeDFAFC design of monomer battery each component.By spraying preparation of microporous layer and diffusion layer brush prepared catalystlayer of combination of two processes for preparation of MEA, and surface morphology ofdiffusion layer and catalyst layer were observed by scanning electron microscope.In the samecondition, the internal factors include the diffusion layer of MEA substrate and the Nafionfilm type effect on the cell performance.Find the battery performance of TGP-H-060typecarbon paper and Nafion115film prepared from the best.Through the fuel cell test system of external factors affecting battery performanceincluding the effects of temperature, velocity, concentration on the battery performance, whenthe battery temperature is80oC, cathode humidification temperature is30oC, formic acidsolution concentration of6mol/L velocity5sccm, oxygen flow rate400sccm, the best cellperformance, the maximum power density83.8mW/cm2.
