In recent years, with the popularity of inland river tourism, river tourism shipping industryis getting more and more attention, and a higher demand about safty, comfortable, andrapidityon would be imposed on this kind of tourist ships. So that to design the Inland riverships with superior performance which can meet the condition of our country Is very necessary. So far, the two methods of normative design and direct calculation are taken successivelyfor ship structure design. However inland vessels usually adopt normative design method tostructural design, this method is mainly based on ship hulls girders theory and lots of empiricalformula, which exist some inaccuracies and limitations. For high-performance ships or specialnew ship this method can hardly meet the design requirements. With the development of finiteelement theory and computer technology, finite element method is widely used in lots of fieldslike structural design, reliability analysis, strength assessment. This method can react varioussmall parts of the hull completely in the calculation, which lead the results of structural stresscalculation to have a very high accuracy in detail. So this method has become an indispensabletool for the structural design of large ships, high-performance ships.Even though finite element in ship structure design has been widely used and achievedgood effect, but it is seldom used in the inland ship structural design, in this paper taking68meters of luxury cruise liner as an example to research the application of finite element methodin Inland ship structure design. Firstly the main structure and component size of the68metersof luxury cruise liner should be confirmed and also summarizing the issues that should benoticed. The tank bottom structure was not completely based on normative design, but dependon the actual situation of the ship, the comprehensive economic, security and other variousfactors to determine its structure. Such an attempt have a reference value for Inland river cruisestructure design. Using the ANSYS software to build the finite element model for the cabin andchecking the strength of the vessel in a variety of conditions to get the stress cloud and themaximum stress of the main components. On this basis, critical buckling factors of the maincomponents were obtained by buckling strength analysis, all the parameters checked meetsregulatory requirements. Subsequent research ship vibration performance, the use of the finiteelement method to get the ship’s natural frequency, based on the relevant norms checking theship frequency reserves.
