Fault of distribution network cannot be avoid,though distribution network structure isconstantly optimized as well distribution automation technology is continuous developed.Distribution network fault diagnosis system can be used to rapidly realize the distributionnetwork fault location to reduce the economic consequences of the failure outage, easy formaintenance and quick power supply restore after the accident. Therefore, development offault diagnosis system has the important value of engineering application.Firstly, it is proposed a mixed fault diagnosis method combined mechanism model withPetri Net method. Distribution network is described as a node-branch network by the way thatswitch is mapped to branch and other equipment in power network is mapped to node. Faultcomponent is determined using network characteristics; Petri Net method is used to simulatefault protection and switch movement process to judge maloperation or miss trip of protectionand switch. Secondly, a model for distribution network fault diagnosis is designed,establishing a mapping from the parameters in CIM to description in the model and providedan external interface. Finally, the design was compiled to a component in a distribution powernetwork analysis platform according to IEC61970. The component was test by real powernetwork data, verifying the correctness of the design.The proposed method is simple, rapid and can meet the general field applicationrequirements; modular development and following the common information model was usedto ensure the portability of the design.
