The driver of diesel locomotive requires more comfortable environment with the progress of science and technology and the increasing environmental protection consciousness. Environment in cab is directly related to the physical and mental health of drivers, efficiency and user acceptance for the locomotive because the cab is the work-place of drivers. It is necessary to improve comfort of the cab to create a good working environment for drivers, ensure the health of staff and improve the work efficiency and the accuracy of the operation.Noise of diesel locomotive cab has become one of the important indexes to assess the performance of diesel locomotive. Therefore, understanding the noise characteristics of diesel locomotive cab is of great significance for its vibration reduction design and improving work environment of the driver.This paper proposed the main noise sources of diesel locomotive cab and noise reduction and vibration reduction used technology by analyzing the diesel locomotive structure Based on the problem of the noise pollution of diesel locomotive cab. Noise and vibration test and analysis system was used within the cab and the parts of main noise source for noise and vibration testing. Test result being analyzed by Artemis analysis software indicates that the main noise sources of the first cab are diesel engine noise and wheel-rail noise, and the diesel engine noise, cooling chamber noise and wheel-rail noise are the main noise sources of the second cab. The vibration test result indicates that the resonance may occur at125Hz and1600Hz. On the sound absorbing performance of the problem, using the Reverberation room method to measure all kinds of material’s sound-absorbing coefficient, and comparative analysis to select the better sound absorption performance of small pieces of sponges and superfine glass wool sandwich material, the vibration and noise reduction program is put forward, and the vibration and noise reduction structure is made of behind the perforated plate filled with sound-absorbing material. The test results show that the effect of the noise reduction is obvious. Noise value of the cab is up to the national standard requirements after transformation according to the noise reduction program. The study results are of value as reference in noise control design of the cab.
