A multiphase erosion testing device in modelling wet steam environment which took water erosion damage, solid particle erosion and temperature of materials into account was designed and fabricated for the study of failure mechanism of big steam turbine’s last stage blades. In design progress of the testing device, a lot of simulation for different nozzle sizes was performed by the mean of FLUENT to find out a proper value. The composition and working principle were described in detail. Erosion test under different conditions can be carried out. The testing device has simple structure and be easy to use. In order to fully understand the effect of solid particle erosion on deformation of materials and damage status, finite simulation was carried out by the mean of ABAQUS to analyze the influence of shot size, impacting velocity, impacting angle, shots number, shots distance and shot impacting times on residual stresses and equivalent plastic strain (PEEQ) of target materials for single shot and multiple shots impacting model. Then finite simulation was also performed to analyze the influence of shots number on residual stresses and equivalent arc height for random erosion. The research above had a certain significance to promote the scientific understanding of multiphase erosion behavior.
