Large parts assembly simulation technology based on measurements is to conduct real-time measurement in the assembly process of the assembly object, relying on digital three-dimensional measurement system and digital design model, and guide the positioning and adjustment to ensure the assembly process through the geometrical spatial information obtained. The paper studies large parts key measurement features recognition and conversion methods, big butt adjustment and assembly technology and the large parts assembly stimulation technology, through shipbuilding, machinery, measurement and simulation multidisciplinary,and applies to large hull blocks assembly process simulation. Applies three-dimensional measuring technology and virtual assembly technology on large parts of the docking assembly process design. Builds virtual assembly environment and imports real-time three-dimensional measurement data, large parts of the three-dimensional model, assembly tooling construction and assembly equipment to conduct docking assembly process simulation. Analysis and verification of assembly with the real parts could be conducted before real assembly process could be an effective solution to the current problems that exist in the assembly process, providing pre-correction programs to ensure the smooth progress of the construction site, to reduce or even to prevent the occurrence of rework, to reduce assembly time and production costs.The full content of the paper is organized as follows:This first chapter introduces the research status of measurement assisted large parts assembly technology and related technologies in engineering applications, analyzes the shortcomings of the prior technologies and establishes the research content and structure of the paper.The second chapter completes the research on measurement feature recognition method for three-dimensional geometry measurement, including analysis of the three-dimensional geometry design model, the study on the rule-based selection of key measurement features of a large part and studying the conversion methods of features of the measurement field and assembly field.The third chapter completes the research of measurement assisted large parts’assembly contour matching. Based on the two-dimensional plane curve matching method, decomposes three-dimensional contour into three dimensional contour coordinate plane and uses optimization algorithms to optimize the gap to get the final matches and applied to the hull blocks assembly process.The fourth chapter completes research on large parts assembly process simulation, including analysis of the assembly process model of large parts integrating measurement data, constructing assembly visualization field model, assembly simulation of the ship blocks and completing quality control of hull block assembly based on the simulation.The fifth chapter describes the developed large block-assembly simulation system, building the main structure of the system, showing the system’s multi-source data importing and conversion modules, and providing the blocks of large ship assembly with motion simulation process.
