| Along with the rapid development of our country’s automobile manufacturing industry, thedemand for the advanced technology and design philosophy is also increasing. Engine bonnet isone of the most important automobile covering panels, influences its performance and aestheticfeeling largely,it is also an important link because its difficult design and long cycle. Reverseengineering technology can shorten the development cycle, its digestion and absorption of theforeign advanced design idea and manufacture process, can also promote enterprise’s corecompetence. So,applying the reverse engineering in engine bonnet’s design has a very importantpractical significance. Moreover, due to the number of vehicle for pedestrian’s traffic accident isincreasing, the research for pedestrian protection’s performance of the automobile is becomingmore and more important. This paper combines the reverse engineering technology and the pedestrian protectiontechnology. Firstly, using ATOS measurement system to make a data acquisition for a model ofengine bonnet, and preprocess the point cloud data. Then reconstruct the engine bonnet’s surfacemodel on the basis of cloud data with using CATIA software successfully, and analyze thesurface model’s smoothness. After that,to use the software Hyper Mesh and LS—DYNA tosimulates the crash simulation between head impactor and engine bonnet, and optimize theengine bonnet’s outer plate and inner plate on the basis of simulation result. This paper’s research applies the reverse engineering on engine bonnet’s design deeply, and offers a reference to design an engine bonnet with better pedestrian protection. |
