The technology of UAV route planning is the key to using UAV to complete the dangerous mission, realizing autonomous flight and intelligent control. It is the heart of the mission planning system. The algorithm of route planning for UAV is the most basic problem. For this purpose, what have been researched on the route planning for UAV in the paper are as following:The mature methods and algorithms of route planning for UAV are introduced and compared. Ant colony algorithm is determined to be applied to the article. Because of the ant colony algorithm is easily to fall into local optimal solution and occurs the problem of algorithm diffusion. The Cloud Model what can transform between quantitative digital and qualitative concept is used for improving the Ant colony algorithm in order to solve the problems. Then the improved ant colony algorithm and the old ant colony algorithm are used for simulation experiment about how to solve the TSP problem.The simulation result and the performance of the improved algorithm are compared. Finally the improved ant colony algorithm is applied to the route planning for UAV. Executed route planning and simulation, the results proved the feasibility of the improved algorithm.
