Disease of operating railway tunnels, especially seepage water and freezing problem, has been the main focus of the builders and the railway departments in the high latitude and cold regions of China, like Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and Northeast China. Tunnel often occurs water seepage during the spring thaw period and seepage water can cause all kinds of freezing damage in winter, such as icy prism hanging in the roof of tunnel, icicles slide hanging in the side wall, and the track bed freeze. Seepage water and frozen disaster react upon one another and affects the service life of concrete structure and road safety seriously.In this paper, on the basis of referring to the information at home and abroad about the tunnel disease treatment, combined with the actual situation in the disease treatment of Basumu tunnel in Inner Mongolia, a research on the tunnel’s leakage water and freezing treatment technology in the alpine area has been started. The followings are content and results of the research:·On the basis of consulting a large number of tunnel disease treatment and cause analysis cases, the diseases of Basumu tunnel is divided into three categories:lining structural disease, water seepage disease and freezing disease. Statistic analysis of a variety of diseases has been carried out and the cause of the diseases has been analyzed combined with the statistical data.·Numerical simulation of Basumu tunnel’s temperature field has been carried out based on3D CFD software to analyze the tunnel temperature field distribution under four kinds of conditions:laying the insulation layer or not, ventilating or not. The cold-proof length of operating railway tunnel in winter is about800m according to the numerical simulation result. Setting insulation layer can avoid the formation of freeze-thaw circle lap and prevent frost damage effectively.·Numerical simulation of surrounding rock and lining’s displacement field and stress field of Basumu tunnel has been carried out based on ANSYS software to analyze the displacement and stress changes after laying the insulation layer in tunnel. The numerical simulation was carried out under two kinds of conditions:laying the insulation layer or not. The insulation layer can effectively reduce the stress and displacement of lining structure and surrounding rock according to the numerical simulation result. In the meantime, for complete lining surface without destruction, single frost heave condition is not enough to make it crack.·The domestic and foreign conventional tunnel disease treatment measures nowadays has been summarized. The paper introduces the experiment and application condition of "tunnel heating system with heat pump" and "heating system with electric belt" which are domestic advanced, analyzes their prospects, applicability and advantages and disadvantages in the tunnel disease treatment.The paper introduces the applications of "heating system with electric belt" method in Basumu tunnel disease treatment which method is still in the exploration and experimental stage in China, summarizes the advantages and disadvantages and use effect of this method, analyzes its applied use of value and market prospect, offers broad people from tunnel engineering a reference.
