One of the main components of firearms is barrel. According to process techniques ofmajor manufacturers, some common issues such as cracks, slag inclusions and blowholes etc.make barrel a ordinary thing become complicated and deficient, and thus the safety, accuracyand service life of guns are directly influenced by the quality of barrel. In order to improvequality of products, an automatic online detection system for barrel is designed in this paper.As the inside rifling waves of a barrel will reflect strong disturbing signals and has agreat effect on identifying flaw signal while it is being tested with ultrasonic, a kind ofcomprehensive inspection method using multi-probes is put forward based on the traditional ofultrasonic nondestructive testing, as well as the structure characteristics and defect types ofbarrel. In addition, the scheme of ultrasonic automatic testing for barrel has been designed.By analyzing the characteristics of rifling wave, differences between rifling wave andflaw signal along with energy feature of echo signal, the Energy Loss CompensationAlgorithm is proposed by means of the way obtaining the flaw signal which is mingled withrifling wave. In this thesis, another method, Sliding Average Filtering Algorithm, which caneliminate the flaw signals of rifling wave, is also putted forward. In the view of syntheticallyjudge from the test results of three channels, the defect types is accurately identified and thecorrectness of above algorithms is verified.The experiments demonstrate that the system meets the expected performance.
