Urban expressway is the aorta and main frame of urban traffic road network, and with its "fast" high-capacity traffic functions meet the urban sustainable development, Ramp Meter Control (RMC) determines the entrance and exit of ramp in urban expressway and the conditions of ground road traffic which it is associated with.At present, using the open protocol is an inevitable trend in the development of intelligent transportation equipment, it sweeps away the obstacle of different equipments and systems in the coordination, and allows the same communications lines which exist different products of manufacturers and equipment types, solving the communication problems between many information systems and electronic devices in ITS, such as the NTCIP in the United States. Domestic traffic signal control equipment has just started in this respect, and Ramp traffic signal controllers using NTCIP are much less, in practical engineering, it is not easy to build a complex control function of system that network operation, upstream and downstream coordination and with crossing traffic cooperative control.In this paper, ramp controller hardware design part, master control module based on ARM9G20CPU core board, network and serial interfaces are reserved, realizing more interfaces control and being convenient for the expansion of other functional modules, setting the standard of embedded control hardware platform. Software part, using Linux embedded system integrated development platform, according to the content of NTCIP1207MIB and ramp controller standard control process, designing the main program of ramp signal control, through sending and receiving with the information message of SNMP between the management center and the ramp meter controller, achieving read, set and analysis of objects in the database, so as to realize corresponding function of NTCIP1207and traffic signal timing control in light groups. Ramp control algorithm, using a coordinated control method of more than one entrance ramp based on the length of the queue. Finally, through test to prove the overall control effect of the ramp meter controller based on NTCIP1207.
